Groopit Receives Honorable Mention in Fast Company’s 2020 World Changing Ideas Awards

Groopit Selected as Honorable Mention in the Best World Changing Idea North America, Experimental and General Excellence Categories

New York, April 28, 2020 — Groopit, a SaaS solution for crowdsolving that makes it easy for extended teams to work together and solve problems in real-time, has received an honorable mention in the North America, Experimental and General Excellence categories of Fast Company’s 2020 World Changing Ideas Awards. The North America category awards the best world changing idea overall in North America, the Experimental category awards concepts, prototypes, and just-launched ideas that have the potential to change how we think about an issue, and the General Excellence category awards entire new consumer categories that have the potential to effect true systems change or solve problems. The winners of Fast Company’s 2020 World Changing Ideas Awards were announced today, honoring the businesses, policies, projects, and concepts that are actively engaged and deeply committed to flattening the curve when it comes to the climate crisis, social injustice, or economic inequality.

Groopit was founded on the idea that some of the most important contributors toward progress are often people who don’t work directly for you. They may be experts, researchers, scientists, hospital administrators, manufacturers, suppliers, residents, neighbors, leaders and countless people on the frontlines. Groopit helps leaders accelerate results with an extended team and real-time data. It harnesses the power of decentralized teams, known as extended teams, with its crowdsolving software to solve the world’s most complex issues faster than ever before.

“After decades of leading and studying extended teams, it became clear that in order to accelerate our ability to solve complex problems and bring big ideas to life, our leaders need a crowdsolving strategy and a high-tech solution that makes crowdsolving simple,” said Tammy Savage, CEO and Co-founder of Groopit. “It’s an honor to be recognized by Fast Company for Groopit’s mission to help extended teams solve some of the world’s most difficult problems at a rate that has never before been possible.”

Now in its fourth year, the World Changing Ideas Awards showcase 26 winners, more than 200 finalists, and more than 500 honorable mentions—with Health and Wellness, Corporate Social Responsibility, and AI and Data among the most popular categories. A panel of eminent judges selected winners and finalists from a pool of more than 3,000 entries across transportation, education, food, politics, technology, and more. The 2020 awards feature entries from across the globe, from Vancouver to Singapore to Tel Aviv.

Illustrating how some of the world’s most inventive entrepreneurs and companies are addressing grave global challenges, Fast Company’s May/June issue celebrates, among others, an electric engine for airplanes that eliminates emissions from flights—and expensive fuel from the tricky financial calculus of the airline industry; a solar-powered refrigerator that finally frees people in remote villages from daily treks to distant markets, transforming the economics of those households; an online marketplace that connects food companies with farms to buy ugly and surplus produce to fight waste; and an initiative to offset all of the carbon costs of shipping, creating a new model for e-commerce sustainability.

“There seems no better time to recognize organizations that are using their ingenuity, resources, and, in some cases, their scale to tackle society’s biggest problems,” says Stephanie Mehta, editor-in-chief of Fast Company. “Our journalists, under the leadership of senior editor Morgan Clendaniel, have uncovered some of the smartest and most inspiring projects of the year.”

A complete list of finalists will be featured in the May/June issue of the print magazine, available on newsstands May 5.
